I'm not sure about the colour, but the style of shoe vs the shape of your actual foot might make it seem bigger. The best thing to do would be to try it on.

I believe the sizes are in Men's. The difference between men's and women's shoes has to do with the width. A regular men's size is equal in width to a wide woman's.

In most cases, I would say a size 6 or 7 in men's. But, you'll have to try it on first. Different brands fit different, just like with clothing. If you're going to order them off the site, try finding a shoe store near you to try them on first, so you know what size/style to order. You may even find that you don't like the way they feel.

Converses only have mens size. You order 2 sizes down if you're a female. For example, I too am a size 8, so I buy a size 6.

Lighter colors (such as white) tend to give the illusion of bigger feet. Neon shoes could have the same effect just because they draw much more attention to the feet than black or dark colors do. I own a pair of purple converse (more of a plum shade) and they are very cute without making my feet look too big.

I hope this helps.
